A 27-year-old Sophia man has led detectives to a spot at Eye Lash Backdam, North West District, where he allegedly buried his 20-year-old lover after killing her earlier this month.
The decomposing body of Patricia Davis, which was wrapped in a net and a sheet of plastic, was found on Thursday in a shallow grave, some distance from a mining camp in which she had stayed with the suspect. Sources identified the man as a Sophia resident with previous armed robbery charges.
Reports indicate that Davis, who reportedly frequented the interior, was slain around October 1.
Police said that a hunter traversing the area dug up the remains on Thursday after spotting what he suspected to be a shallow grave. He then notified the police.
Residents had reported that they had not seen Patricia Davis for some time.
Police then picked up her lover, who eventually allegedly admitted to killing her. He reportedly also took police back to the scene.
Kaieteur News understands that the suspect told investigators that he and Davis often quarreled. It is alleged that on October 1, they had yet another argument, and he struck her several times with a piece of wood.
According to sources, they went to bed, and when he woke the following day, he found her motionless in his camp. He allegedly then wrapped her in a net and a length of plastic, and buried her some distance from his camp.
A post mortem is expected to be performed on the victim next week.
