The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Men’s Value and Purpose (MVP), is currently aiming at spreading awareness on the value of men, and is hoping to aid young males in realizing their worth through the celebration of International Men’s Day.
The group is calling for nationwide recognition of November 19, the day allotted to International Men’s Day, similar to that of International Women’s Day.
Chief Executive Officer of MVP, Gary Morgan is requesting that the general public wear something blue in recognition of men.
International Men’s Day is celebrated worldwide in appreciation of the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities.
Morgan expressed the concern that men are generally not given the level of appreciation deserved. He also holds the firm view that “every human being needs a man in their lives” and as such more acknowledgment should be given to the event.
He also reflected that despite the fact that the day is an international event, only a handful of Caribbean countries show any form of recognition, while worldwide it’s only about 80 countries.
