Tonight is the penultimate night of the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA)/GTT 2017/18 League and Eagles United are seeking their seventh win against Amelia’s Ward United.
This match would be a test for the second placed Eagles which can join Net Rockers with a win in their seventh game out of nine from 21.00hrs; the preceding game at 19.00hrs features Botafago against Winners Connection.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday night last, Net Rockers took the lead from Eagles with a 4-1 beating of Hi Stars after being down at one stage, Tony Adams netting for the Hi Stars who are yet to win a game with one remaining.
That 1-0 advantage for Hi Stars was short lived as de Shawn Joseph soon squared things in the 39th minute. Then Clarence Huggins hit in a hat-trick which ended any hopes of a win for Hi Stars, Huggins striking in the 60th, 65th and 76th minute.
The second game began the same way as the first with Blueberry Hill finding the net early through Tevin Croal. Then the tables turned with Botafago going all out and getting the equaliser in the 29th minute and half time ended with the scores 1-1.
Then a hat-trick came for Shane Haynes first in the 47th, 52nd and 64th minute before Shamar Gittens polished things off in the 78th minute as Botafago romped home 5-1 winners.
