History would be created on Sunday when the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) bowls off its 2019 Mike’s Pharmacy Under-15 tournament which would be the first time that a tournament for an upcoming year will commence well in advance.
The BCB has already completed the 2018 edition of the tournament which was won by Albion Community Centre, this 2019 edition would be the 23rd competition under the Hilbert Foster led administration.
Sponsor of the tournament is popular Businessman Lakeram Singh, CEO of Mike’s Pharmacy and the Board is expressing gratitude to Singh for his continued confidence in the BCB and Anil Beharry who serves as a Liaison Officer for the Board in Georgetown.
The teams have been divided into three Zones for the tournament which would be used to select the Berbice Inter County team for the 2019 season. Blairmont ‘A’, Blairmont ‘B’, Bush Lot United, Paradise and Achievers make up of Zone ‘A’ while Tucber Park, Mt. Sinai, Edinburgh, Rose Hall Canje and Kendall’s Union form Zone ‘B’.
The 2018 winner, Albion Community Centre, runner-up Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes, Port Mourant Cricket Club, No. 73 and Big Star would battle each other in what is expected to be a very competitive Zone ‘C’.
The cut-off date for players to be eligible is the September 1st, 2004; matches would be played 50-Overs per innings. Teams are expected to be present at the venue by 09.15hrs while clubs are being reminded that all players must be attired in whites.
Walkover shall be granted 30 minutes after the scheduled start of play while teams shall forfeit the spinning of the toss if they are not present to spin it by 09.15hrs. Clubs are asked to note that Paradise, Kendall’s Union and Big Star all drew the bye to the next round.
