Australia Women’s Team yesterday paid a visit to East Ruimveldt Secondary as part of the ICC Cricket for Good School and Community Outreach Initiative. This is a global initiative of ICC and it is being facilitated by Cricket West Indies in the three host venues of the Women’s World T20 2018.
Some of the teams have visited a number of schools here; Pakistan were at President’s College, India went to West Demerara Secondary School and New Zealand were at the Diamond Secondary School.
The Aussies were treated to a Cultural Display (Guyana and Australia) and were involved in an exhibition Cricket Match with the students. They also presented tickets to students of the school before signing autographs and taking photographs. Some of the players also provided musical entertainment, while their Captain Meg Lanning received a commemorative plaque from the head teacher of the school.
Australia have already qualified for the semi finals and will take on India in their final preliminary game at Providence on Saturday. The Indian team which is being led by Mithali Raj had a net session yesterday at Bourda.
