DEAR EDITOR,
I have read of Digicel’s U.S billion-dollar troubles with investors and their publicly announced capital cuts in Guyana that have obviously started.
Here in Lethem, Digicel’s service intolerably worsens week by week. Just recently, both their phone and internet services were down for a day and a half. That breakdown was not the only one. This is capitalism of plunder.
Modified capitalism of reasonableness on the other hand, a la British Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s economic policies in 1962 in the U.K, and the magnificent work by Singapore’s Prime Minister, Lee Quan Yew, begun more than 50 years ago, to ‘manners’ U.S imperialism and some U.S multi-national companies then trying to bully small Singapore into submission, is on its way again!
Indeed, Washington was so vexed, U.S bigwigs reverted to calling its ally, Singapore, a nanny state.
Get on board Digicel or move out of our space!
No more taking our money and treating us like fools.
Yours truly,
Eddie Da Silva
