Dear Editor,
I wish to highlight a very obnoxious and disgusting issue in the village of Enmore, which is located on the East Coast of Demerara.
Mr. Editor, the NDC is responsible for the collection of garbage within the village. However, over the last two weeks there has been no garbage collection within the Logwood, Enmore area. I cannot say if garbage has been collected in the other areas of Enmore.
The garbage tractor that usually collects the garbage can be seen at various intervals doing private errands for persons closely connected to the NDC, so it’s not a case of a broken tractor.
Mr. Editor, as a resident of this village, I pay my fair share of rates and taxes and so do the other villagers. We also have our kids who have to be exposed to a dirt-filled environment, thanks to the Enmore NDC. What is more obvious is that local government elections are due in a few days from now and the NDC is controlled by the PPP/C elites who will be rallying for the residents to vote them in again.
I do hope my fellow villagers don’t fall prey to the PPP/C elites and put them back in control of the village affairs because if they do, I do hope they have conditioned their minds to endure the next three years of crass incompetence.
Deo Persaud
