Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels is expected to call five remaining witnesses to testify in the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder of a Pandit and his son whose bodies were found in their Campbellville home with multiple stabs wounds last July.
Thirty-year-old Orlando Douglas is currently on remand for the two murders.
The PI is being heard before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Yesterday when the matter was called, Constable Kevin Noel, a crime scene videographer, testified to visiting the crime scene when the bodies were discovered.
He told the court what he did with the video evidence he took from the scene and those video recordings were shown in court to be part of the Prosecution’s case.
The Magistrate after listening to the witness adjourned the matter.
Prosecutor Daniels is expected to call five remaining witnesses to testify on behalf of the state.
According to reports, Deonarine Liliah, a 61-year-old Pandit and businessman, and his 28-year old-son Gopaul Liliah, were found dead last July, in their Lot 25 Craig Street, Campbellville home, with multiple stabs wounds about their bodies.
The father and son were discovered after a tenant who lives downstairs made a report at the Kitty Police Station after neighbours complained about a stench coming from the upper flat of the home. The bodies were subsequently discovered.
An autopsy revealed that the victims had been stabbed 66 times.
Police reportedly recovered CCTV footage, which showed a man jumping the western fence and entering the home, through the northern front door.
