Play in the Ramnaresh Sarwan / Upper Corentyne Second Division 40 overs cricket competition for teams in the Upper Corentyne/ Black Bush areas resumed with a number of matches.
The competition, which is sponsored by former West Indies Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan, is being organised by the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA).
In results of matches played were at –No 70, No 70 MYO defeated Yakusari Horizon by 319 runs. No 70 MYO 375 with Alim Khan 160(19×4, 9×6), Salim Khan 68(10×4), Jameel Assad 40 and Niar Khan 34 the top scorers.
Bowling for Yakusari, Toney Ramsundar picked up 5-47. They in reply were bundled out for 56.
O. Ahmad 5-24 and Aseef Khan 5-28 did the damage.
No 48 Challengers defeated No 69 Vikings by 53 runs. No 48 Challengers batting first and scored 162. D. Budhu 44, A. Baldeo, 34 and B. Samaroo 31 was the top scorers. Bowling for Vikings U. Lalbhari took 3 wickets with C. Narsingh, C. Bollers, and S. Rajram 2 each. No 69 Vikings 104 with U. Lalbehari 46.
B. Samaroo led the bowling for 48 Challengers with 5-21 and T. Seenauth 4.
Skeldon Titans defeated No 72 All Stars by 1 run in a close encounter at the No 72 ground.
Skeldon Titans 64-8 with Victor Pedro 13 as A. Mohammed with 4 and P. Gobin 3 wickets did the damage for No 72 All Stars. In their turn at the crease they fell agonizingly short by 1run to be dismissed for 63 with A. Hemschand 20. Bowling for Skeldon Titans Jermaine Reid with 5-28 got support from Victor Pedro and Errol Byass with 2 wickets each.
No 68 Turn Team hammered Crabwood Creek all Family by 10 wickets at No 68. CWC All Family were bowled out for 61, S Sukdeo 29 and D Rampersaud 15. Bowling for No 68 Turn Team A. Gulcharan picked up 4-2 as they sped to 68-0 in four overs with A. Dourjohban hammered 57 Not Out ( 6×4, 5×6).
The game between No72 Cut and Load and Skeldon Super Kings at the No72 ground saw Cut and Load winning by 7 wickets.
Skeldon Super Kings batted first and ended on 90 with C. Felix 19 as Ivan Khan and Ramesh Joseph picked up 3 wickets each bowling for Cut and Load.
They reached 95 -3 in their turn at the wicket with VJ Persaud 25, Ramesh Joseph 21 and Mahendra 17 Not out as A. Alli picked up 3 wickets bowling for the Super Kings.
No 70 A Spartans and No71 Sports Club played at the No 70 ground with the host winning by 7 wickets. No71 Sports Club batted first and was bundled out for 61. Bowling for No 70 A Spartans Omesh Hemraj picked up 5-10. They in reply arrived at 62-3 with D. Budhoo 39.
Scottsburg United travelled to No 73 and defeated the No73 Young Warriors by 7 wickets. Young Warriors 130 with Roger Craig 22 and A Narine 15. Bowling for Scottsburg United O. Raghuj picked up 3, while James Hart and O. Morgan collected 2 each.
Scottsburg then scored 131-7 with R. Lowenfield 22, A. Alli 18 and G. Moore 14. Bowling for the losers Nazir Khan and A. Gandin took 2 wickets. (Samuel Whyte)
