After going through the entirety of the evidence Senior Magistrate Leron Daly found sufficient evidence to commit Shelton Bowen to stand trial in the High Court for the murder of Mark Ifill.
Bowen, 42, a security guard of Lot 2 Water Street, Bagotstown, allegedly stabbed Mark to death during a heated row over an illegal connection from which they were collecting water.
According to reports, the two men were involved in a heated altercation over the removal of a water pipe by Ifill from the Bowen’s yard. As a result they ended up in a fight during which the accused lashed Ifill to his head with an object.
It is alleged that Bowen went away and on returning with a knife, stabbed Ifill in the region of the heart. The injured man managed to run a short distance but collapsed. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Bowen was charged for the offense in 2017, he is expected to go on trial at the next practical sitting at the Demerara.
