DEAR EDITOR,
I read an article by Kaieteur News “Dem Boys Seh…Berbice Bridge and Marriott is Jagdeo and ee friends cash cow….” (KN, 6th November 2018)”. It is an interesting article, but demonstrates a lack of understanding by Dem Boys Seh about how financing works in the real world.
With regards to BBCI, Dem Boys Seh is demonstrating a total lack of business acumen. The writer(s) believe that control should go with ownership, when in fact ownership and control are separate.
I can name hundreds of companies where the Majority Shareholder does not have any direct control over the company and how the company functions. Many are listed on the US and UK Stock Exchanges.
Ownership and control are two different things.
Firstly, the point I am making here is that the view in Dem Boys Seh is that if you put up the most money you should have the most control over a company….which is erroneous thinking. The real world does not operate that way.
Secondly, in the USA, UK and the rest of the world, certain private investors are given preferential treatment over other investors with regards to their investment. It all depends on the type of shares you hold. Bondholders are given preferential treatment over ordinary shareholders with regard to who gets paid first.
Thirdly, Dem Boys Seh Jagdeo is friends with the investor/s. Which Government in which world is not friendly to investors?
Yours Faithfully,
Sean Ori
