The opening night of the second annual Turbo football tournament kicked off on Monday with two identical 3-1 wins for Northern Rangers and Riddim Squad as these two teams became the first to book their spots in the quarterfinals of the 16-team knockout tournament.
In the feature match of the night, Northern Rangers had a comfortable win over Western Tigers with Steven Sankar firing the victors ahead in the 11th minute of the clash with a composed finish before Adolph George completed a brace in the 30th and 69th minutes.
Western Tigers would’ve felt that they had a good chance after Joshua Britton had netted to pull their deficit to one goal with almost half of the game to play in the 47th minute but Ruimveldt based team was completely outplayed.
Meanwhile, in the opening game, Riddim Squad’s Kevin Agard banged in a hat-trick to ensure the Mocha Arcadia based team pulled off a come from behind win against Pele Football Club that went ahead first through Abosi Jarvis in the 20th minute. All of Agard’s goals came from set pieces with him curling the last past Pele’s custodian to take the score to 3-1.
