Dear Editor,
It is not surprising that the political parties APNU, PPP and URP declined to participate in Linden’s Local Government Elections Town Hall Debate which was scheduled for Friday, November 2, 2018 at LICHAS Theatre, Mackenzie.
The organizers, Linden Fund Trust formally informed the Alliance For Change – Linden of its decision to cancel the much-anticipated event citing lack of response and declining from the other parties. The AFC from the onset indicated that it welcomes any form of debate or engaged dialogue that address concerns of the electorate, constituencies, Neighbourhood Democratic Councils and Municipalities. Public debates will afford candidates the chance to share their political ideologies, local policy proposals, and criticism to potential voters; hence making them more informed before heading to the polls.
Editor, it is evident that unless the power drunk so-called elite parties are not in the puppet master’s chair they wouldn’t take part. Are they afraid of being confronted by their incompetent past? Being exposed for not having a logical plan to address the town’s issues? or could they be afraid of the AFC’s fit and proppa platform?
Rest assured Linden, the AFC will not hide behind trapped doors of egotism and with its open-door policy will always make time to address your issues; it needs support to lobby for better roads, improved health care, safe spaces, improved security, transparency and accountability, youth development and employment initiatives. Linden will rise like a phoenix out of the ashes and move from potential to prosperity, vote for the Key on November 12, 2018.
Sincerely
Devin Sears
