The Finals of the ABSAA-NSC- GFF Second Annual Breast Cancer Awareness hosted‘WE BELIEVE’ Cup Futsal Football Tournament in honour of Cancer Survivors was played last Wednesday at the National Gymnasium.
The tournament brought the curtains down to the four days of fun football Activities under the tag line ‘Let’s create a World without Cancer and together we can make a difference’.
“It was great as the girls played for Cancer Survivors who were there and those who not,”said Junior Forrester, the organiser of ABSAA’s events.
InWednesday’s Final which was watched by 40 ladies and supporters, Team Marlyn Dewar defeated Shirlean Alexander 3-1, while in the Ladies Combine Final, Team Nicole Schultz/Rosaline Clarke defeated Christine Jardim/Amina Hassan 2-0 with goals coming of the feet of Saicy Adams and Lekesha Pearson.
“Big hugs and blessings to all our cancer survivors and a truly wonderful group of selfless servants of others from the ABSAA crew. We are One. A big thank you to Christopher Jones Director of Sports of National Sports Commission (NSC), President Wayne Forde and GS Renita Bourne of Guyana Football Federation (GFF), Simone Basil and all the wonderful participants,” Forrester added.
The sponsors were Christine Anita, Jardim of Outdoors PetShop, Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Guyana Cancer Foundation (GCF), ABSAA Inc and Cancer Institute of Guyana all played a big role in making the tournament a success.
“Our plan at ABSAA is to do an under-15 Boys and Girls Futsal before this month is over and in January, which is Cervical Cancer month, we will be doing an event,” Forrester concluded. (Sean Devers)
