People’s Progressive Party/ Civic Member of Parliament, Odinga Lumumba, has questioned Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo’s spending.
At the last sitting, Nagamootoo had to provide an answer to the question, “Could the Honourable First Vice-President and Prime Minister inform this National Assembly with regards to how much of the $109.2M allocated in sub-head 6284 – Other in Agency Code 02-Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Programme 021 in the 2018 Budget, has been spent and what has it been spent on as of August 30, 2018?”
Nagamootoo response showed that only about 20 percent of his allocation has been spent up to the end of August.
Nagamootoo said, “Of the 109.2M allocated in the sub head 628- other in agency code 02- Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Programme 021, $21.4M has been spent as of August 2018.”
Nagamootoo indicated that $5M was spent on constitutional reform activities. Then there was the lunching of Regional radios, Aishalton, Orealla and Bartica, training of regional radio personnel and Prime Minister’s “outreach activities” that attracted a cost of $5.5M.
Supervisory consultancy (regional radio project) attracted another cost of $4.6M; while Information Technology (e-mails and web services) cost another $1.2M
The furniture at the Nagamootoo’s Official residence needed repairs. Repairs to furniture and cleaning and replacement of carpet cost $1.4M. Events and functions at Nagamootoo’s office and home cost another $1.6M
Other expenses include purchasing tickets, books and paintings, framing pictures, purchase of cell phones and stipend for work study students and cleaning services, cost a total of $ 2.1M
