The Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club/Banks Beer 100-ball cricket tournament continued last weekend at five venues on the East Coast of Demerara. The preliminary games are being played in a round robin format across four groups with the highlight of last Sunday’s action being Sachin Singh magnificent 124 not out against Enterprise B at Better Hope ground whilst Gajanand Suknanand and Daniel Kowlessar grabbed five wickets each for Lusignan A and Better Hope CC respectively.
At Strathavon, Strathavon SC defeated Helena #1&2 by 94 runs. Strathavon SC batted first and managed 137 for 9 with Randy Hemraj scoring 32. Helena # 1&2 made 43 all out in reply. Adtiya Ramsarran claimed 4-13. Mahaica SC got the better of Helena #1& 2.
At Better Hope, Better Hope CC defeated Enterprise B by 123 runs. Better Hope CC posted 209 for 6, batting first. Sachin Singh slammed 100 (12×6, 3×4) and Rajindra Singh 34. Nishaud Ulla took 2 for 32 from three overs. Enterprise B responded with 86 all out. Ravendra Beepat got 22. Daniel Kowlessar bagged 5-6 from three overs.
Lusignan East defeated Mahaica Cavaliers by 6 wickets. Mahaica Cavaliers were bowled out for 83 in 12.5 overs, S. Sahadeo took 3 for 20 runs from three overs. Lusignan East got to 84 for 4 off 61 balls in reply; H. Jailall made 24.
At Enterprise, Buxton SC thumped LBI CC by two wickets. LBI CC scored 105 all out, taking first knock. R. Dowletram made 43 and M. Persaud 32. Buxton SC responded with 107 for 8 from 14 overs. E. Phillips got 18, while Y. Bisram took 2 for 11.
Enterprise A beat Buxton SC by 22 runs. Enterprise A batted first and mustered 119 for 7. B. Samaroo struck 40 not out. Buxton SC were limited for 97 for 9 in reply. Marvin Kato made 31 as Kamesh Yadram took 2 for 14 runs.
At Lusignan, Better Hope CC overcame Lusignan A by 14 runs. Better Hope CC managed 125 for 9, taking first strike. Daniel Kowlessar scored 47 (4×6, 2×4); Azad Mohammed took 2-10. Lusignan A made 111 for 8 in reply. Vishnu Ramjeet got 22; Daniel Kowlessar 2 for 14 runs from 3 overs for Better Hope CC. Lusignan B defeated Paradise SC.
At Enmore, Lusignan A defeated ECCCC (B) by seven wickets. ECCCC (B) were sent packing for 47 in 14 overs, taking first strike. Gajanand Suknanand bagged 5 for 14 runs. Lusignan A responded with 48 for 3 in eight overs. Krishna Deosarrran made 28.
Enmore CCCC (A) got the better of Golden Achievers SC 39 runs. ECCCC (A) batted first and made 143 for 7. Dinesh Mangal got 34 not out and Yuvraj Dyal 31. Golden Achievers replied with 104 for 8. Selwyn Burgess scored 32; Rudolph Singh took 2-12.
The preliminary games will conclude on November 11 with matches at Lusignan, Enmore and Enterprise.
Meanwhile, Enterprise A, Enmore CCCC (A), Lusignan A, Better Hope CC, Fairfield SC and Strathavon SC have already advanced to the quarter-finals, whilst six other teams are vying for the remaining two places.
On Sunday, Enterprise A will host Lusignan B at 9:30hrs and Golden Achievers SC will take on Unstoppable SC at 13:30hrs, At Lusignan, Lusignan East will battle Unstoppable SC at 09:30hrs and Lusignan B will face Buxton SC- 13:30hrs.
At Enmore, Mahaica Cavaliers will challenge Golden Achievers SC at 9:30hrs and Better Hope CC will play ECCCC (B) at 13:30hrs.
