A 56 year-old technician was yesterday charged for fraud at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. Wayne Foster, who was unrepresented by an attorney, pleaded not guilty to the charge that was read to him by Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The charge stated that on October 25, 2017, at George and Bent Streets, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, being entrusted by Trevor Brummell with the sum of $720,000 for the purpose of purchasing a ice machine, Foster fraudulently converted same to his own use and purpose.
In his defence, Foster told the court that he and Brummell jointly set out to pay for the machine which was in Trinidad; however, a broker advised that they get papers for the item so that it can be shipped in. Foster indicated that he confronted Brummell who gave him the go-ahead to do the necessaries, however Brummell did not give him additional money for same.
The Police Prosecutor had no objections to bail, and Foster was granted same to the tune of $150,000. He was instructed to return to court on November 12.
