Ariel Speedboat, Regal All stars and Masters, Floodlights, Wellman Masters, Tropical Spring and New York SCL were among the victorious teams when the Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA)/Guyana Cup 8 commenced yesterday.
In the Over 45 category at Malteenoes SC, Invaders Masters made 165-6, batting first against Wellman Masters. Tameshwar Sancharie got 45, Deopaul Drickpaul 44 and Latchmeikant Narine 39; Wayne Jones took
2-26. Wellman Masters responded with 166-5 in 18 overs. Lloyd Ruplall struck 96; Richie Bishop took 2-20.
Parika Defenders and Royal Canadian Masters played to a tie. Parika Defenders took first strike and managed 161 all out in 20 overs. S. Mohamed scored 47 and Mohamed Safie 38; SSeecharran Persaud had 2-10, Naipaul Singh 2-12 and Atamdeo Persaud 2-15. Royal Canadian Masters responded with 161 all out in 20 overs. Imam Gafoor got 45, Lynden Lyght 28 and Seemangal Yadram 25. R. Rambarose and A. Mohamed had two wickets each.
Fishermen Masters piled up 224-7 taking first knock. Baldeo Persaud hammered 113 while Narendra Pooran contributed 45; Lester Thom claimed 3-20. Wellman Masters were limited to 179-9 in reply. Nandram Samlall made 51 and Wayne Jones 31. Lallbahadur Persaud snared 3-28 while Gopual Deen and Puran Singh had two each.
Tropical Spring batted first and rattled up 226-9. Latchman Yadram struck 77 and Nadir Baksh 47; Richard Patterson took two wickets. Invaders Masters responded with 218-7. Richie Bishop slammed 57, Patterson 39, Tameshwar Shanchari 31 and Drick Paul 22.
At DCC, Albion Masters scored 169-8, batting first. Imran Hussein made 29 and Jaga Bojh 26; Ramo Malone claimed 3-20 and Clive Canterbury 2-35. Floodlights got to 156-8 in response. Unnis Yusuf made 35; I. Harilall took 2-23.
At GNIC, Regal Masters batted first and made 165-3. Mahase Chunilall led with 62 while Mahendra Hardyal got 37 and David Harper 32; Prahalad Singh had 2-21.
Tropical Spring scored 146-7 in reply. Anand Persaud and Prahalad Singh got 52 each; Troy Kippins took 2-28.
At MYO, NY Hustlers managed 180-5, taking first strike. Troy Gobin stroked 72 and Ken Sanichar 70. Regal Masters responded with 182-3 in 18.3 overs. Eon Abel struck 60, Mohendra Arjune 51, Troy Kippins 26 and Eric Thomas 20.
At DCC, NY Hustlers scored 128-7, taking first knock with Sidney Jackman and Ken Sanichar scoring 38 and 28 respectively. G. Deen had 3-25 and Darmendra Mohabir 2-42. Fishermen Masters replied with 132-1 in 12.4 overs. Hemraj Pillay made 66, Mohabir 29 and Robert Mohan 25.
Orlando Masters took first strike and posted 218-5. Shiv Seeram slammed 112 and M. Harihar 27; Roshan Illahi claimed 3-28. Narine Masters replied with 164-8. K. Persaud made 59; D. Patram grabbed 4-37 and T. Mathura 2-12.
Narine Masters batted first and scored 121 all out in 16 overs. M. Basdeo made 49; Devanan Kanan took 3-6; Unnis Yusuf and Clive Canterbury had two each. Floodlights responded with 123-1 in nine overs. Yusuf made 57.
Ontario Masters posted 194-6, batting first. S. Seeram made 58; A. Nirmal 35 and Jaimini Singh 23. I. Hussain had 3-36. Albion Masters made 163 all out in 18.1 overs in reply. V. Moonsammy got 53 and Jaga Bojh 50 as Jaimini Singh bagged 5-17.
In the over 50 division at Transport SC, Orlando Softball Cricket League batted first and posted 159-6 with R. Ramdeo scoring 46 and W. Lane 43. Floodlight Legends replied with 161-3 in 17.1 overs. Hakim Majeed cracked 55 and Samaroo Budhu 37.
New York President’s XI took first strike and managed 160-6 with Dennis Mangru scoring 84 and Peter Persaud 24. Royal Canadian Masters were restricted to 109-4 in reply. Imam Gafoor made 32 not out and Imran Solomon 24.
At YMCA, NY President’s XI got 172-4. Rudy Rodrigues and Vinoo Lall got 52 each. NY Softball Cricket League made 140-7 in reply. Seeram Hemraj scored 44 and George Gravesande 32; Peter Persaud snared 3-14. OSCL beat Floodlight and Florida overcame NYSCL.
In the Open segment at Ogle, Orlando SCL were bowled out for 58 in 9.3 overs, taking first knock. G. Arjune grabbed 6-17 and Roy Jafferally 2-0. SVC Spartans responded with 59 without loss in 4.5 overs. Yetesh Dhanpaul made 29.
SVC Spartans made 115, taking first knock. Kishore Smith claimed 4-16. Ariel Speedboat responded with 107 all out in 19.4 overs. B. Mangra got 21 as A. Narine had 3-16.
Ariel Speedboat posted 206-3, taking first turn in the middle. Anand Bharat struck 49, Shazim Hussain 48 and Lennox Marks 40. Cotton Field Wild Oats replied with 157 all out in 19.1 overs. Ganesh Mangal made 31 and Latchman Rohit 22; Greg Singh, Wazeer Hussain, Smith and B. Mangar had two wickets each.
Cotton Field Wild Oats scored 200 all out in 19.4 overs, taking first knock. S. Alexander stroked 80; G. Babulall claimed 3-27. Orlando SCL responded with 139 all out in 17.4 overs. Bhaskar Yadram made 21; Latchman Rohit claimed 4-20, S. Alli 3-22 and G. Taylor 2-1.
At Enmore, Farm batted first and managed 175-9. Zaheer Hanif slammed 69 while Rawle Reid made 21; S. Shamsudeen took 3-30. Softball Cricket Canada responded with 176-6 in 19.3 overs. J. Jairam made 45 and A. Rochram 44.
Regal All stars posted 176-8, batting first. Patrick Rooplall made 44 and Keon Sinclair 36 not out. Malcolm Hubbard and Quazim Yusuf had two wickets each. Farm were bowled out for 124 in 18.4 overs in reply. J. Adams got 33; Sewchand Budhu had 3-19, Ricky Sargeant 2-14 and Eon Hooper 2-21.
Regal All stars managed 161-7, taking first strike. Rooplall led with 45; S. Khayume and Safraz Esau had two wickets each. SVC were sent packing for 132 in 19.2 overs in response. Richard Latif made 18; Sinclair captured 3-12 and Sachin Singh 3-28. SVC beat Canada in their encounter.
