Mark Edwards and Robert Hanoman, both of whom will be competing, are pictured with LGC President Aleem Hussain at the simple handover ceremony of the sponsorship at the company’s headquarters in Houston, EBD.
Since late 2016, when four companies with over 100 years of complementary shore base construction and management experience came together — Muneshwers Limited, Pacific Rim Constructors, LED Offshore, and TOTALTEC Oilfield Services – and formed Guyana Shore Base Incorporated (GYSBI), a majority-Guyanese company with over 100 local highly trained workers, they have set the standard for the emerging Oil & Gas industry in Guyana.
In early 2017, GYSBI won the ExxonMobil shore base services tender and within 18 months GYSBI was providing ExxonMobil with infrastructure, including secure open and covered storage, berthing for 2 supply vessels, operational personnel and loading/unloading logistics support. Rig contractors and major service companies are now making use of the base.
That same dedication to quality and precision is now being showcased as the company’s directors Robin and Mark were encouraged by veteran golfer and long-time member of the Lusignan Golf Club Robert Hanoman to sponsor its inaugural golf tournament on Saturday October 27th at 12:30pm.
“This is the first major tournament being sponsored by an Oil & Gas company and we hope that as many of our colleagues and customers will come out in support – to play or simply enjoy the atmosphere at the Lusignan Golf Club on Saturday,” Mr. Mark Edwards said. “Our staff and the people in the industry work extremely long hours and this will provide some well-deserved relaxation for them and their families.”
The GYSBI tournament will feature three categories with prizes going to the top two participants in the 0-9; 10-18 and 19-28 handicap flights. It is expected to attract a full field as competition heats up for the Guyana Open sponsored by Ganesh Parts & General Store, distributors of Bridgestone and Sissons Paint on November 3-4. According to LGC President Aleem Hussain, “This year promises to be the largest event in the history of the tournament and we are grateful to GYSBI for coming out in support of golf and look forward to this becoming an annual event.”
