Retrial of ‘Cobra’ for 2010 murder…Mother recalls pathologist removing bullet from son’s head

It was an emotional 20 minutes for Gloria Sultan, the mother of Troy Collymore who was murdered on August 05, 2010. The woman was called to testify yesterday in the trial of Tyrone Rowe called ‘Cobra’ who is accused of fatally shooting her Collymore, also known as ‘Collie’.
Collymore was shot after a robbery at a pharmacy in Plaisance, East Coast Demerara. The man was declared clinically dead two days later at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
When the retrial commenced yesterday, the mother took to the witness box and recalled her final moments with her son. Sultan, of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, told the court that on the day in question, she and her son were chatting inside her bedroom when he left after telling her something.
According to Sultan, the next day she was summoned to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where she saw her son lying on a bed attached to a life support machine. She added that the next day she went back to the hospital where she saw her son’s body taken to the mortuary. The woman burst out in tears after she recalled witnessing a bullet being removed from her son’s head by the Pathologist on August 09, 2010. “Why is this happening again? This is memories,” she cried.
Her son, she said, was buried on August 14, 2010. Rowe is about 25 years of age now. The murder accused is on trial before Justice Sandil Kissoon and a 12-member mixed jury at the High Court in Georgetown.
Rowe is being represented by Attorney-at-Law George Thomas. The case for the State is being presented by Prosecutors Lisa Cave and Orinthia Schmidt.
