Nearly 40 persons have been arrested, and a plethora of items seized during the Guyana Police Force’s operation, “Restore Order”.
Reports indicate that ranks of GPF conducted this operation between 3:30hrs and 8:30hrs yesterday.
Ranks operated in the East La Penitence Station District, which includes Guyhoc Park and parts of Sophia, Greater Georgetown (‘A’ Division), and in Beterverwagting and Sophia (‘C’ Division).
Sources indicate that in the A division, ranks seized two motorcycles with licence plate numbers CG 8319 and CJ570; 10 laptops, 42 cellular phones, a tablet, two play stations, a digital timer, an X-Box, some computer and phone accessories, and 72 grams of cannabis.
From this division, seven persons, including a woman, were arrested for a series of offences, including theft and possession of illicit drugs.
As for the ‘C’ Division, seized items include three motorcycles with licence plate numbers CH8675, CG3395 and CH8917, a car bumper, two car doors, a vacuum, a power washer, a grass-cutting machine, three cellular phones, a television set, a music set with three speakers and some small Ziploc bags.
Ranks arrested thirty-one persons from ‘C’ Division for offences including robbery under arms, possession of stolen articles, trafficking and possession of illicit narcotics, and arson.
Of the ‘C’ Division detainees, Desmond Junior Lewis, 36, was profiled to have been sentenced in absentia, for six years on two counts of armed robbery committed in ‘A’ Division.
