Dear Editor,
Recent statements by the opposition leader against racist comments by his supporters, can only be described as commendable.
However the history of this ambitious gentleman and that of the recent governance of Guyana by the PPPC, leaves one in much doubt of the sincerity of the statement by this past President.
Many have considered Mr Jagdeo himself a racist and are of the opinion that his recent comments are coming from a forked tongue .
What ever the case may be, it is a breath of fresh air to politics in Guyana, to see political leaders from both sides recognising the importance of uniting the nation as we aspire for a better day.
Nevertheless, this message of unity must also be taken to the bottom house meetings, and amplified at Babu Jhaan and Enmore. While doing so, Mr. Jagdeo will need a somewhat large eraser to erase what he and other PPPC leaders have sown deep in the hearts of many.
However I personally as one who dreams of a united Guyana, wish to thank our former President for showing such maturity. May all our present and future leaders embrace this call for one people, one nation.
I also hope that this statement will usher in more cooperation among those in parliament to build a better Guyana for all Guyanese.
