Three men were yesterday placed before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman to answer for the theft of 12.5 tonnes of batteries belonging to Emily Nedd; the owner of Den’s Trading.
Clayon Nedd, 34, Herry Green, 24 and Collin Carr, 44, were subsequently released on $100,000 bail each.
It is alleged that the trio between January 1 and June 6 at Broad Street, Charlestown, Georgetown stole 12.5 tonnes of batteries from Den’s Trading, Emily Nedd.
The batteries were said to be valued at $1,929,250.
Police prosecutor Jones Deniro told the court that the trio was employed by Den’s Trading, a company that purchases scrap metal and used batteries.
It is alleged that the virtual complainant purchased the batteries to send to Korea, and upon loading on June 6, she noticed that 12 tonnes of batteries was missing.
She then reported the matter to the police and an investigation was launched resulting in the three suspects being arrested and charged.
The prosecutor had no objection to bail and the men were released on $100,000 bail each but were asked to return to court on November 2.
