Alleged passport fraud… Is he Cliff Ryan Jacobs or Joseph Troy Gomes?

Is his name Joseph Troy Gomes or Cliff Ryan Jacobs?
That’s what the court is trying to find out in a case in which a 27-year-old man who is accused of presenting a forged birth certificate to Immigration officials.
The accused, who is charged as Cliff Ryan Jacobs, of Lot 264, Low Creek, Linden-Soesdyke Highway appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with fraud.
It is alleged that on September 17 last, the defendant Cliff Ryan Jacobs, visited that Passport Office Guyana, and claimed he was Joseph Troy Gomes.
Police Prosecutor Thornhill told the court that at 09:20 hrs, Jacobs provided officers at the Passport Office with a complete passport form and a birth certificate appearing to belong to Joseph Troy Gomes.
However, when the birth certificate was inspected the information detailed was not legible and he was arrested.
The defendant pleaded not guilty and maintained that he was Joseph Troy Gomes and an application for reasonable bail was made by his lawyer, Paul Fung-a-Fat.
The defendant was released on $25,000 bail and asked to return to court on October 22.
