The ninth Caribbean Beekeeping Congress is scheduled to be held at the Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA) over five days from November 19.
The congress will be the second of its kind held in Guyana within the last decade (since 2008) and is bi- annually held around the Caribbean.
Guyana’s Apicultural Society is preparing to host the event with assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture as Co- hosts in collaboration with the Association of Caribbean Beekeepers’ Organizations (ACBO).
Among the benefits expected by Guyana for hosting the Caribbean Beekeeping Congress is exposing 120 new persons to beekeeping, exposing 30 existing local beekeepers to international best practices; discuss regional challenges to Apiculture trade in the Caribbean to develop export potential and promote local Apiculture.
The series of Caribbean Beekeeping Congresses is intended to provide a Forum for the regional beekeeping community to address the challenges and opportunities facing the sub sector of apiculture.
