Safraz Esau, Anand Bharat and Buddan Baksh struck half centuries, while Mahendra Dhanpaul grabbed four wickets to guide Herstelling to a 277-run victory over Silver bullet when the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association/ Neville Sarjoo Memorial 40-over tournament continued last weekend.
Herstelling opted to bat and piled up 388-9 on Saturday at YMCA. Safraz Esau struck two fours and seven sixes in scoring 74, Anand Bharat made 69 with 13 fours and one six, Buddan Baksh got 56 including nine fours and two sixes and Wazir Hussein 49 which contained eight fours and one six. Vishal Sajroo snared 3-63. Silver Bullet were sent packing for 111 in 16.4 overs in reply. R. Michael stroked three fours and six sixes in a top score of 52, while Arif Bacchus made 19. Mahendra Dhanpaul captured 4-23 and Aaron Seepersaud 2-17.
At Laluni, the home team went down to Bayrock by five wickets. Laluni batted first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 87 with D. Thomas scoring 18 and J. Mohabir 10; Martin Pestano Belle bagged 4-13 and Stephon Browne 3-27. Bayrock responded with 88-5. Leonard scored 35 including one four and three sixes; Troy Domingo claimed 2-18.
Nandy Park beat Rome Athletics by one wicket on Sunday at YMCA. Rome Athletics took first knock and managed 179 all out in 38.4 overs. Sheldon Chapman hammered three fours and a similar number of sixes in a top score of 48 while Raphael Singh hit three fours and one six in his 42. Trevon France had 2-23 and Darshand Persaud 2-27. Nandy Park responded with 180-9. Movindra Dindyal slammed four fours and two sixes in a fine 61 while Surendra Hiralall made 25. Rocky Hutson had 3-32 and Singh 2-33.
At Laluni, Farm overcame Peter’s Hall by three wickets. Peter’s Hall batted first and scored 133 all out in 29.2 overs with M. Roopchand scoring 25 and Asif Eshack 16; Oslyn Batson picked up 3-19 and Azeem Azeez 3-42. Farm made 134-7 in 22.2 overs in reply. Charwayne McPherson made 28 with two fours and one six while Rawle Reid contributed 19. Arif Peerbacchus snared 3-20 and E. Salick 2-36.
