Regarded by many as the greatest golfer of all time, 78-year-old Jack Nicklaus has signed a deal for his golf course design company, one of the largest in the world, to construct a state-of-the art PGA 18-hole Golf Course in Guyana.
So says Minister of Social Cohesion with responsibility for Sports Dr George Norton during his speech at yesterday’s launching of the 2018 Open Golf tournament at the Marriott Hotel. Norton said that the retired American professional golfer was impressed with the work of President of the Lusignan Golf Club Aleem Hussain and has given his commitment to the construction which should commence early next year.
The deal Norton says will get support from the Guyana Government will see the construction of Guyana’s second Golf course. More details of the deal was not released by Norton or Hussain.
During a span of more than 25 years, Nicklaus has won a record 18 major championships while producing 19 second-places and 9 third-place finishes.
