The consistency continues with the Everest Cricket Club Masters team as they won yet another match in what can be described as a successful year on the field when they beat the visiting Zeelugt Masters by 48 runs on Wednesday at the Everest ground.
The hosts started to get it right from the beginning when they won the toss and batted. After their allotment of 25 overs the score was an imposing 184 for 4. The inform Saheed Mohamed muscled his way to 54 (3×4; 1×6) with Hemraj Garbarran 45 (4×4; 1×5; 1×6), Alex Cully 23 (2×4) and Rakesh Gangaram 21 (1×4; 1×6) offering excellent support.
The Zeelugt bowlers had a tough day at the office with S. Persaud, D. Maniram and S. Mangra picking up a wicket each.
In reply, the visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually folded for 136 in the 24th over with Ricky Persaud top scoring with 54(6×4), while Manishwar Balgobin hit 26 (2×4).
The victors’ bowling was spearheaded by Man of the Match, Rakesh Gangaram who snared 4/19, while Saheed Mohamed also came back with the ball to reap success with 3/12.
So far for the year, Everest Masters have played 12 matches in and out of Guyana and were on the winning end in 10 of those encounters. Their next assignment is against Parika Defenders on September 16 at the Parika ground.
Trophies for the match were sponsored by Trophy Stall of Bourda Market.
