Rising Star won the Triple K birth anniversary T/10 cricket competition which was contested on Sunday last at Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo.
Rising Star defeated Golden Grove by four wickets in the final. Batting first in front of a large crowd, Golden Grove managed 106-6 with Anthony Fraser scoring 52; Elroy Fernandes claimed 2-17. Rising Star responded with 107-6 in 8.4 overs. T. Cato made 55 as Kishan Da Silva picked up 2-17.
Rising Star defeated Zeelugt by eight wickets in the play off game. Zeelugt took first strike and made 54-5. D. Persaud made 10; Kevin Christian claimed 2-5. Rising Star responded with 55-2 in 8.5 overs. T. Smith got 20 as Keon Roberts captured 2-5.
T. Cato and Kishan Da Silva were named the best batsman and bowler respectively. The Tournament, which commenced at 14:00hrs due to rain, was organsied by Keon Roberts to coincide with the birth anniversary of Keon Junior, Keon Roberts and Keola Roberts.
