Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore yesterday fined a driver attached to Tower Suites, Main Street, Georgetown, $50,000 after finding him guilty of dangerous driving.
Twenty- three-year-old Dwayne Christiani, of Republic Park, East Bank Demerara, on April 22, last at Eccles Public Road, drove motor car PRR 2605 in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of William Stanford.
The Magistrate in coming to her ruling told the court that the prosecution was unable to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt that Christiani caused the death of Stanford.
However, she added that the Prosecution was able to provide sufficient evidence to prove that that Christiani drove in a manner dangerous to the public, hence, she fined him $50,000 or in default, three months imprisonment for the offence.
Throughout the trial, Christiani, who was out on $200,000 bail, was represented by Attorney-at-Law Keoma Griffith.
