Dear Editor,
Clifford Krauss’- The $20 Billion Question for Guyana” presents a grim reality of Guyana present and future.
Every Guyanese who is concerned about the future of our Children and country should read this article.
It is an honest and priceless piece of literature that presents excitement, a feeling of nostalgia, fear, hope, national pride and much uncertainty. It vindicates the writings of Ram, Arjoon, Mangal etal.
It is a timely reminder of our unpreparedness and inexperience to handle the enormous and unimaginable potential of oil wealth. It is a call for true national unity and true togetherness, if the Cooperative Republic of Guyana is truly to be given that second chance at a good life.
It presents an equal balance between what is perceived by some to be ‘beautiful Guyana’ and what is actually understood to be Guyana by the men and women under the Stabroek clock, those on the Demerara Harbour Bridge stuck in traffic, those in the route 45 mini-bus, those in the line of duty along our borders, those in foreign lands seeking a better life for their family and those in their dormitories at colleges and campuses beyond these shores who are seeing true development in other parts of the world while chasing after their dreams.
If there is nothing else you will read about Oil and Gas, then please read ‘The $20 Billion Question for Guyana.’ It brought tears to my eyes for many reasons.
