The Nand Persaud Karibee Rice Horseracing stable continues to show that it is one of the best in the Country and is improving by leaps and bounds when it took top honours at the Kennard Memorial Turf Club one day Horserace meet on Sunday last.
Led by the ever improving T and T, trained by Mohendra Persaud and ridden by Yap “Old Boy” Drepaul the animal led a one two with Golden Blue Echo running in second in the feature E and lower event.
Although being an H class animal and for some strange reason being denied participation in the H class event earlier, T and T made full use of the opportunity to whip the field as it took charge down the homestretch for an easy win in the 7 furlongs race.
For the win T and T took home the $600,000 first prize and the DDL trophy. Golden Blue Echo was also impressive, finishing second with Isn’t She Charming beaten into third.
Lucky Star from the R. Pooran stable with Jamaican Jockey Brian Blake in the saddles did its thing in the H and lower event to win from Seven Dust and Isn’t She Charming.
The three-year-old Guyana bred and J2 and Lower race saw Slim Shady with Yap Drepaul on the hunch beating out Not This Time and King Stanley.
Victoria with Julius made sure that it lived up to its name when it crossed the finish line ahead of the field in the event for two-year-old Guyana bred horses. Occupying the other positions were Princess Tasha, Star Quality and perfection.
Guava Ground Gal ridden by Paul Delph was in winners row in the L class open event, beating off Barbarosa, Masapeque Dr and Red Region for the top position.
The L non-winners’ race was taken by Byron of the C. Collins Stables as The Rock and Red Weasel had to settle for the other positions.
There was also a race for the L Class and Lower non-winners and three-year-old maiden earners. The winner was Secret Flyer of the C. Jorree Stables with Strike Again and See the Moon rounding out the money.
The Nand Persaud Karibee Rice sable was adjudged the best stable on show as it swept the plate in the prize giving ceremony taking the Champion Stable, Champion Trainer with Mohendra Persaud and Yap Drepaul the champion jockey on show.
They were all presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the Trophy Stall and the organisers.
