As the racing date gets closer a number of sponsors have come on board to join with the Nand Persaud Group of Companies and their Sky Plus Promotion Group for their Sixth Mega Sprint Classic Horserace meet.
The latest set of sponsors includes Retired Jockey Abdul Latiff and businessmen Deo Persaud, Jaikaran Sergobin (Raymond) and Jaikishan Persaud (Ricky).
They join Beverage Giants Ansa McAl Guyana Limited and Trophy giants the Trophy Stall of Bourda Market for the much anticipated event dubbed the ‘Nand Persaud Karibee Sprint Classic’, slated for Sunday August 12th at the Company’s, No 36 Village, Macedonia Estate, Corentyne, Berbice Racing Facility.
Seven races are listed for the day with over $4M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
The feature event is for horses classified D and lower over 880yards or four Furlongs for a winning purse of $400,000 and trophy.
The other races will see the horses competing in the H and lower category for a take home prize of $260,000 and trophy over 3 Furlongs. There is an event for 3 year-old animals which will see the horses galloping for a winning take of $200,000 and trophy also over 3 Furlongs.
The 2 year-old animals will be competing for a similar winner’s purse of $200,000 and trophy over 4 Furlongs.
The K Class and Lower animals will have at stake a first prize of $140,000 and trophy over 3 Furlongs.
There are two events for animals classified L and Lower. One for male horses over 4 Furlongs, while the female animals will be galloping over 3 Furlongs both for $100,000 and trophy. The Trophy Stall will be presenting a number of trophies to top performers including top trainer, stable and jockeys.
