A building that housed staffers of the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) was yesterday gutted at Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.
GFC’s chairperson, Jocelyn Dow, said that the building is one of the living quarters and one of a few in the compound. No one was around at the time of the mid-afternoon fire.
According to Dow, the other buildings were saved.
The lost belongings of the GFC staffers will be “taken care of” by the Commission, she said.
