45th CAC Championships… Bruce Whatley snaps up Pro Card after gold in Masters & Middleweight classes – Campbell good for bronze

Opting not to defend his 2017 Mr. Guyana title but focusing his energies on the 45th edition of the CAC Body Building & Fitness Championships, Guyana’s USA based Bruce Whatley flexed his way to a Pro Card following gold medal performances in the Masters and Middleweight categories.
The seasoned campaigner placed 2nd Overall behind winner Damion Daniel of Grenada who also received his Pro Card. On Saturday, Whatley successfully defended his Masters title which he won in 2016 in the Dominican Republic and returned to the stage on Sunday to capture the Middleweight gold before ending 2nd in the Overall showdown.
The annual championship was cancelled last year following the hurricanes that ravaged parts of the Caribbean and the earthquakes in Mexico.
Emmerson Campbell, who recaptured the Mr. Guyana Men’s Physique title this year from Yannick Grimes who dethroned him last year, ended with the bronze (Under 174cm Class) medal in Mexico on the weekend. Campbell had won silver in the Dominican Republic in 2016.
Campbell has expressed thanks to Fitness Express, the National Sports Commission/Ministry of Social Cohesion, Bounty Farm Ltd and the GABBFF among others for making his attendance in Mexico possible.
The other two athletes that made their way to Mexico, Caerus Cipriani ended just outside the medals, 4th place in the Under 182cm Men’s Physique competition, while Alisha Fortune did not get past the pre judging phase in the Body Fitness contest.
Next year’s CAC Championships will be hosted by the Puerto Rico federation.
