Despite commendable performances from Guyanese Naveed Ali and Imran Khan, Lankans Sports Club went down to Bloomfield CC and Wolfpack CC when the Toronto District Cricket Association (TDCA) first division 40-over tournament continued recently.
Batting first at Sunnybrook Park, Lankans SC managed 151 all out in 37 overs with Ali scoring 87. Bloomfield CC responded with 153-4 in 34 overs.
In another fixture, Lankans SC suffered a four-wicket loss to Wolfpack CC. Lankans SC scored 134 all out in 32 overs after they decided to bat. Ali, who also plays for Muslim Youth Organisation in Georgetown as well as club cricket on the West Demerara, struck 54, while Khan who represents Good Success Sports Club in Wakenaam, Essequibo made 34. Wolfpack CC responded with 135-6 in 30.2 overs. Khan finished with 4-8 off eight overs including a hat-trick.
Meanwhile, Good Success SC beat Wakenaam SC when the Ontario Softball Cricket League 20-over tournament continued recently. Good Success SC took first strike and posted 141-8. Naveed Ali made 33 and Krishna Persaud 28; Shablall Mohabir claimed 2-25. Wakenaam SC scored 115 all out in reply. Azeez Baksh got 28 as Ashok Ramjas picked 3-16, Ali 2-15 and Imtiaz Abjal 2-25.
