Day 5 of the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) / Juicy Juice Under-13 League played on Sunday last at the Timehri Red Ground saw a total of 29 goals being scored in four matches as the future ball weavers of Guyana continue to exhibit their skills in a developmental setting.
Agricola Red Triangle’s Eon Daniels who scored a helmet-trick on Saturday followed up with another breathtaking performance when he tucked in five against Herstelling Raiders to lead his team to a 7-2 win, their second in as many matches.
Also clinical on the day were Shakem Welcome and Ronaldo Adams of Diamond United who scored a hat-trick and a double apiece in leading their side to a 9-1 triumph over Kuru Kururu Warriors, their third win in as many starts and the young club’s best ever run at any level.
Soesdyke Falcons were also outstanding on the day in their exciting 4-2 win over Samatta Point/Kaneville orchestrated by Malachi Leacock’s hat-trick. And equally impressive was Swan in their come from behind 4-2 win over Diamond Upsetters which had ran away with a 2-0 lead by the 16th minute.
But the Linden Soesdyke Highway based lads from Swan soared to one goal advantage after drawing level by the half time break, 30 minutes on. Diamond Upsetters, tasting defeat for the first time in three matches, had taken the lead through goals from Shaquan Gilkes in the 13th minute and Izia Henriques three minutes later.
Their burst out of the blocks did not deter the young Swans which fired by in the 19th minute to reduce the lead in half through their leading goal scorer, Murphus Andrews. It was all they needed as they fired in three more unanswered goals.
Ezekiel Baptiste netted in the 27th minute to bring them level after which the go ahead goal was converted by David Loncke on the stroke of half time. Merwyn Loncke, cousin of David scored their final goal of the match in the 57th minute to seal the win which was their third in five matches that has propelled them to the third place in the points table behind Diamond United and leaders, Timehri Panthers.
Diamond United continued their fairy tale run of form with another commanding performance, brushing aside Swan’s neighbours, Kuru Kururu Warriors, 7-1. Ronaldo Adams netted the first two goals in the 3rd and 11th minute.
Shakem Welcome then tucked in the first of his three in the 33rd minute and again in the 49th and 60th minute. Rick Ramotar added his name to the score sheet in the 40th, while Shaquan Joseph followed emulated him, eight minutes later. Cleon Jardine scored the Warriors’ consolation goal in the 45th minute.
Agricola’s Eon Daniels has taken the league by storm with nine goals in two matches. On Sunday his commanding style of play continued as he served up for himself, five more goals which came in the 10th, 14th, 18th, 41st and 52nd minute. His club mate, Floyd Boyce had opened the scoring in the 5th minute while Jonathan Andries added his name in the 22nd minute in the 7-2 triumph over Herstelling Raiders.
Ofancy Winter scored Herstelling Raiders’ two goals in the 45th (penalty) and 56th minute.
Soesdyke Falcons recorded their first win of the league in three outings at the expense of Samatta Point/Kaneville. Leading the way with a hat-trick was Malachi Leacock who hit the back of the nets in the 26th, 31st and 49th minute; the other goal coming off the boot of Aubrey David in the 56th minute.
Samatta Point/Kaneville had taken the lead on 18 minutes through Erin Fredericks’ goal, Akeem Francois accounting for the other goal in the 38th minute. The league would continue this weekend at the same venue.
