Bandits escaped with some $ 545,000 in cash, jewellery and other valuables on Saturday after beating and robbing 32-year-old Greg Terborg at his Lot 71 Winter Place, West Ruimveldt business place.
Terborg was at the GT Boutique at around 13:00 hrs when two men walked in. One pointed a gun at Terborg and ordered him to lie on the ground.
While one robber ripped off his gold chain the other suspect took $5000 from Terborg’s pockets.
Kicking Terborg in his mouth and demanding more, the bandits grabbed a quantity of clothes valued around $400,000 and escaped.
From her verandah, Terborg’s landlady had seen the bandits entered the boutique, but thought they were customers.
Its only when she saw them leaving with a large bag that she became suspicious and went to check on her tenant. She then saw Terborg coming out from the washroom with a bloodied mouth.
A report was made and police responded around 13:30 hrs.
Police said checks were made for CCTV cameras in the area and one was seen on the neighbours building facing the area where the incident occurred.
The robbers remain at large.
