Thirty-one year old, Ayana Campbell, a domestic worker of lot 64 Patentia Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara, yesterday appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Campbell pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of 1169 grams of cannabis.
Prosecutor, Gordon Mansfield, stated that on July 13, the defendant was a passenger of a speedboat that had just landed Bartica.
He said that police officers had received information from a source that indicated Campbell’s wrongdoings.
On her arrival, she was identified by constables who escorted her to Bartica Police Station. Campbell had in her hand a Torginol paint bucket. The bucket was searched in her presence and found to contain 1169 grams of cannabis.
The Magistrate denied Campbell’s application for bail. The case will continue on August 2.
