An accident at Tiger Creek, Mahdia, on Sunday night has left six persons injured, with two said to be in a critical condition.
Monica Mendonca, Ray Baptiste, Serena Fraser, Gabriella Marques, Thrishamary Garcia and Janell Wong, were all passengers in a Toyota Land Cruiser that was heading to Brian Sucre Junction from Mahdia, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which toppled several times, ejecting its passengers.
The passengers, who are of Guyanese and Venezuelan nationality, received multiple injuries.
Fifteen-year-old Baptiste suffered a fracture to his left leg, 24-year-old Fraser was suspected to have fractured a rib and her left leg, while 29-year-old Wong received a number of lacerations about her body and head injuries.
A baby was said to have been among the passengers and luckily emerged without a scratch.
The more seriously injured passengers were flown to Georgetown yesterday morning from the Mahdia airstrip to Eugene F. Correia International Airport at Ogle, where they were transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where they have since been admitted.
