The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) resumed its volleyball action, when the Corriverton Jets Volleyball Club of Corriverton hosted a male and female competition recently at the Skeldon Community Center.
Five teams participated in the male category namely Port Mourant Training Center1 (PMTC), Corriverton Jets, GTCPM, Rollers and Port Mourant Jaguars.
There were two participants in the female segment namely Corriverton Jet females and Port Mourant females.
There was a delay in the day’s action due to the inclement weather, however when things got on the way there was plenty of action.
The male segment was keenly contested with the roving PMTC1 taking on Rollers of New Amsterdam in the final. In the end it was PMTC1 that came out victors, defeating the Rollers 30 to 21. Their victory saw them copping the first prize of $20,000 with Rollers taking home $10,000 for their second place finish. The third place play off saw Corriverton Jets defeating Port Mourant Jaguars 30 to 26 to cop the third prize of $5,000.
The female segment saw Corriverton Jets defeating the Port Mourant females 2 games to 1. The scores were 25-21, 19-25 and 25 -23. They copped $5,000 for the win.
