Warren Mc Kay was certainly on top of his game Saturday when he copped the Malta Supreme feature 35-lap and veteran Under-50 titles yesterday at the inner circuit of the National Park.
Fresh from winning the national road race title, he impressed many with his awesome display despite the inclement weather and clocked one hour, 13 minutes and 12 seconds in the main event, followed by Christopher Griffith and Romello Crawford.
National Senior Road Race champion, Cortis Dey, Deeraj Garbarran and Paul DeNobrega completed the top six positions.
DeNobrega led a four-man break in the third lap, while Mc Kay and the rest of the peloton tried desperately to reconnect, eventually doing so on the 29th lap.
However, McKay and the top six rode well to separate themselves from the pack as they teamed up much to their advantage. With about 150m remaining, it was all down to the sprinting power of the cyclists and Mc Kay proved that he saved his best for the last crossing the finish line well ahead of his rivals.
Jaheim Henry won the BMX 9-12 and 12-14 races, Ian Jackson claimed the veteran O-50 event, David Hicks captured the boys and girls 12-14 trophy, Mario King won the Mountain Bike event and Jessica Mohabir the BMX 6-9 title.
