President of the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) Horace Burrowes is congratulating all the 2018 championship winners and top performers of the just concluded National Cycling Championships which saw a new senior winner in Berbician teenager, Curtis Dey.
The other categories saw the 2017 winners successfully defending their titles, Junior -Briton John, Juvenile-David Hicks, Women-Claire Fraser-Green, Masters Under-50-Warren McKay and Over-50-Andy Spencer.
The USA based Burrowes said that once again the cyclists have exhibited a great level of discipline, commitment and desire to compete and claim for themselves national glory as they etched their names in the history books.
The respective Road Race winners, except in the case of the juvenile, were presented with championship jerseys whilst gold, silver and bronze medals were given to all the category winners of the Road Race and Individual Time Trials.
”I would like to commend all the cyclists especially the young ones who have continued to show great heart as they battle day in and day out in this sport of ours. The races were keen in all the categories and all the riders, winners and others, did well. On behalf of the GCF I would like to extend congratulations to all for a job well done.”
Burrowes also took the opportunity to express gratitude to Sueria Manufacturing Inc. though their Activade Sports Drink brand which provided the product for the riders each of the three days.
”Sureia through Activade needs to be commended for partnering with us for this event which was a success. Corporate support is not easy to come by and the GCF is more than grateful to Sureia for giving their bold initiative. We look forward to more support from them and wish them well.
I would also like to thank the Guyana Police Force and our officials led by Joseph Briton and Hassan Mohamed whose combined efforts allowed for the smooth running of the championships over the three days. It is never easy on the roadway but the expertise of the Police and officials all adds up to our riders being safe and able to give it their best shot.”
