-mother travelling with baby girl excretes cocaine pellets
A vegetable shipper and a mother of a baby girl are among seven in custody after they were intercepted at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport with what is suspected to be cocaine.
A release stated that the shipper, Navindra Sarwan, and five others were arrested around 23.00 hrs on Monday in relation to seven kilograms of suspected cocaine found under Sarwan’s vehicle.
At the time, the vehicle was parked inside the compound of the CAMEX Bond at the CJIA, Timehri.
The release stated that Sarwan was scheduled to ship ground provisions and pumpkins on a cargo flight OJ 258 destined for Canada.
And around 22:00 hrs yesterday, Natasha Blair, a 37-year-old cosmetologist of Lot 92 Grove Diamond, East Bank Demerara, was on her way to the departure lounge after checking in her luggage, when she was intercepted by CANU ranks.
The woman was booked to travel on BW 726 to JFK New York on Caricom Day Monday July 2, 2018 through CJIA.
She was escorted to a city hospital where suspected cocaine pellets showed up in her digestive tract during an x-ray. The x-rays also detected an object that was inserted “in her lower extremity.”
“She was admitted as a patient and has since extracted one large object suspected to contain cocaine that was observed in her lower extremity. She has so far excreted three suspected cocaine pellets and remains hospitalised.
“This suspect is the mother of an 11-month-old baby girl with whom she was travelling when she was intercepted,” the release stated.
“The baby has since been handed over to her grandmother.
“CANU is now in search of the ‘child father’ of the said woman.”
The release identified the individual as Sherwin Stoby also known as Kong. It gave his last known address as Lot 87 Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown.
