Thank you for allowing me the space in your excellent paper to share my views on the state of Politics in Guyana; abysmal and disappointing to say the least. Like so many Guyanese I was sitting on pins and needles awaiting the decision of the CCJ on Term Limits. I am absolutely elated that the question has been legally put to bed. Unfortunately, the former President’s pronouncements a few days ago ” You’re not going to get rid of me that easily” carries an ominous ring to it and a deafening sound to the collective ears of Guyana. All of Guyana is aware of the egregious ills of Jadgeo and his cabal; the endless corruption the sweetheart deals; the undervalued sale of prime lands to himself and his inner circle and on and on and on. I do honestly believe the half of these illegalities have not been exposed. Guyana simply cannot afford another day of this excuse of a President.
My issue is with the present administration and the top leadership of the PPP. The Government for not exposing these ills more expeditiously and the PPP for allowing Jadgeo to run rough shod over the party. Why for the love of God the Government is so resistant to educating the Guyanese public about this criminality is absolutely mind boggling. With less than two years to the next election, doing so now will and can be viewed as sour grapes or election pandering. The President being a military man understands the importance of timing in all operations. The miss-steps, lack of decisiveness and sidelining the other coalition members of the government only serves to hand the government back to Jadgeo.
Be not deceived. He’s going nowhere. As with Ramotar, Jadgeo will be the Power behind the throne with his hand picked choice.
Yours respectfully,
Claudeston Massiah
