Yet another village club is set to make its debut as an affiliate of the East Bank Football Association (EBFA), this time, the village of Hararuni on the Linden Soesdyke Highway (LSH) is set to join the association.
On Sunday last, EBFA President Franklin Wilson along with Guyana Football Federation/EBFA Technical Development Officer Devnon Winter and Academy Coach Orien Angoy visited the village where they witnessed the junior players involved in a match with about seven young girls also playing. Winter and Angoy are also EBFA Executive Members apart from being the respective Presidents of Herstelling Raiders and Diamond United.
Members of the organising committee including the person who started the club, Emmanuel Pulsarran, parents and other officials including the CDC Vice Chairperson, Ms. Dawn Alexander were on hand to cheer on the young players as they seek to gain the coaches nod to make the U-13 team which would include both male and female players. CDC Chairperson, Ms. Debra Wong was unavoidably absent but has promised to lend whatever support is necessary to ensure the club becomes reality and the youths are afforded every opportunity to excel.
Wilson, thanked the community for the invitation to visit and to work with them to formalise setting up of their club, he also committed the association to ensuring that they benefit from coaches, referees and other training as they are held by the association with assistance from the GFF.
Coaches Winter and Angoy who are integrally involved in the EBFA/GFF/Scotiabank Academy Training Center every weekend, took the opportunity to run a grassroots session with the youths and it was an exciting time for the coaches and players, according to Winter.
”The session was really wonderful; the level of energy displayed by those players even though they played before was ver

y encouraging. Coach Angoy and myself were also impressed with the amount of young girls we saw there and the competitive nature of their play.
We would be working out something to have the girls more involved while at the same time we will be ensuring that we tap into the talent available in Hararuni.”
Hararuni is home to the leading marksman of the Timehri Panthers Under-15 team, Ishmael Pulsarran who led them to the inaugural title of the EBFA/GFF/Pele Alumini Frank Watson U15 Intra Association League in April this year.
Pulsarran had ended that competition with 17 goals which saw him ending as the second best goal scorer to Shoran James of Herstelling Raiders who ended with two more. Wilson took the opportunity to encourage the parents and organisers to continue supporting the youths.
Two footballs as well as a number of tee shirts for the youths were presented by the EBFA to Hararuni.
