“I catch a b**ch and I should have killed her,” were the words of Lisa Bobb who was yesterday sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment for stabbing her cousin to the left hand.
Bobb, 27, of 84 Campbellville Housing Scheme was on trial in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman, for feloniously wounding her cousin.
She had denied the allegation, which stated that on February 14, last, at Campbellville Housing Scheme; she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Crystel Bobb, with intent to maim, disfigure or cause her actual bodily harm.
Yesterday, after Police Prosecutor, Shawn Gonsalves closed his case against Bobb, she was called upon to give her evidence.
Bobb in her unsworn testimony stated, “I am not sorry for what I did. I catch a b**ch and I deal with her because I was provoked.”
She added that on February 14 last, she was heading home from the station after she went and made a report that a guy known to her, slapped her behind her head.
She added that she saw her cousin, Crystel Bobb, and she pulled a knife from her bag and stabbed her to her arm. She went on to tell the court that she does not like her cousin.
Magistrate Latchman in handing down the sentence told Bobb that she relied on the evidence of the eight witnesses who were called by the prosecution on their behalf. She added that the witnesses’ evidence was not discredited.
The Magistrate told the court that she believed Crystel Bobb’s story and that her demeanour in the witness box was impressive.
The Magistrate further went on to say that Lisa Bobb admitted to the stabbing her cousin and she believed that on the day in question, she acted recklessly.
Before passing down the sentence, the Magistrate told Lisa Bobb that, she needs to control her anger since she believed it always gets the best of her.
After hearing that, she was sentenced to 12 months, Bobb began shouting, “Madam are you kidding me? Twelve months for defending myself? Are you freaking kidding me? I need justice.”
She was quickly escorted out of the courtroom by two female officers. Out of the courtroom, Bobb was heard shouting “I should have killed that b**ch. I swear I should have killed her.”
It was reported that Bobb saw her cousin walking on the day in question, and she pulled out a knife and dealt her several stabs to her left hand causing her to fall to the ground.
Crystel Bobb was then picked up by public-spirited persons and rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where she underwent emergency surgery.
The court heard that the woman’s injuries were listed as serious since her wounds were severe, which caused her to be hospitalized.
