Flying Stars defeated Farm to win the final of the Guyana Softball League Unity Cup which was contested on Sunday at Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara.
Batting first, Flying Stars managed 36-8 off their allocation of five overs with Martin Singh scoring 15. Farm were limited to 31-9 in reply; Rawle Reid made 11 with all wickets falling via run out.
Farm beat Omesh XI by six wickets. Omesh XI made 49 all out in 9.1 overs, while Farm responded with 53-4 in 7.3 overs. Reid struck 32 with four sixes; Michael Mentore captured 3-4 in two overs.
Flying Stars got the better Cane Grove by one wicket. Cane Grove posted 80-4 with Muneshwar Jainarine scoring 41 not out with five sixes. Flying Stars replied with 81-9 in 9.5 overs. Martin Singh got 15 as Muneshwar Sewkaran snared 3-15.
Queen of the boundary scored 29-1 in five overs against All Stars who responded with 18-3 in the female final.
Sachin Jagnarine (Cane Grove) and Narine Shaw (Crossbreed) were the most consistent batsman and bowler respectively.
