Anthony Hooper, a 33-year-old labourer was robbed of his cell phone and assaulted while walking on North Road, in the Bourda area.
Hooper claims that he was in the vicinity of North Road and Cummings Street, when an individual snatched his cell phone and started to run, Hooper says he gave chase, which led into a yard he recognized as a “drug block” on North Road, between Cummings Street and Orange Walk.
“There were a number of junkies in the yard, and they start to curse and chase me out.” Hooper said he exited the yard and was just in front of the gate, when he was approached by a man who asked him if he was a “police” and why he was “going in people place”
Hooper said the individual took a wood from a shop window in front of the “drug block” and started beating him about the body. One of the blows caught him behind his head, which caused him to fall to the ground. Hooper said he had to run for his life because he felt like the licks would not end.
Hooper then went to the Alberttown Police Station where he made a report and was told to go to the Hospital and obtain a medical, which he was doing when he reached out to a reporter from this publication and explained his situation.
