Dear Editor,
The recent speech by British Ambassador to Guyana was a great disappointment to this Nation at the Queen’s Birthday Party on 14 June, 2018.
He mentioned a lot of good things about helping Guyana through many British grants; that was very good. I became very disappointed when he said he was happy to see the first gay pride parade in Georgetown. This is a national disgrace and an affront to our Constitution and the Holy Bible. This same Ambassador is from a Christian Country, England, but he is not a born again Christian.
What was more embarrassing was when he told our President Granger and the Hon. Joseph Harmon to legalize Gay Marriages in Guyana. That is an affront to our people. Just recently I read that Her Majesty of England the Queen is against Gay Marriages.
So how can this man come here to tell us how to live our lives by telling us to grant a marriage license for two gays to get married or two lesbians? From my experience and personal opinion any person who backs up gays and lesbian marriages are gays and lesbians themselves and we must not forget that the Aids epidemic was carried to the USA by an American Homosexual and it was spread globally by homosexuals.
My next concern is our President as well as Mr. Harmon allowed Mr. Quinn to speak and never objected to him because he gave us 67 million pounds in grants so he has the prerogative to control our leaders and Guyana.
Though we brag and boast about Independence in 1966 I can clearly see we are in contemporary political slavery. As the old saying goes ”Massa day na done”. Countries like ours will always be subjugated to the rule of the ‘white man’ because of fear to stand up for our rights and moral dignity.
President Forbes Burnham and President Jagan our founding Fathers of Independence would have never accepted Mr Quinn’s Speech here to legalize gay marriages. And sooner or later those marriages maybe practiced if the churches and people of Guyana are silent about it by allowing a foreigner to ‘shove it down our throats’.
‘’In Guyana, homosexual acts carry a possible punishment of life imprisonment.
I wonder if Ambassador Quinn has any idea about our laws in this country. If our homosexual laws are revoked then those who rape male children will be allowed to walk free by our judicial system that is already flawed and corrupted.
Marriage was created by God Himself not to be changed into an abomination by the likes of Ambassador Quinn because he gave us some handouts. I still will like to hear President Granger, our Christian President, address the Ministers Fellowship who were against this gay parade.
We need to hear his belief on Gay and lesbians marriages. They must also know the Christians are 50% of this Nation Gays and Lesbians just 10%. The elections are very near not very far. God puts up leaders and he takes them down.
I close with this quotation: “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing about it.” (Edmund Burke)
Regards,
Reverend Gideon Cecil
